Bridge Saw Blade Selection and Techniques for Different Stones
Selecting diamond blades and parameters for various stone cutting applications.
Different stones require specific diamond blade formulations and parameters. Granite needs soft metal bonds that release worn diamonds. Cutting speed ranges 25 to 40 meters per second. Harder varieties need slower speeds.
Marble requires harder bonds resisting abrasion. Cutting speeds of 40 to 60 meters per second are typical with faster feeds. Quartz engineered stone needs specialized blades preventing chipping from resin binder content.
Straight cuts use segmented blades while miter cuts benefit from turbo-rim designs. Water cooling is mandatory to prevent overheating and extend blade life. Check segment wear regularly and replace when segments reach 50 percent of original height.
Machine maintenance includes daily rail cleaning and weekly lubrication. Common faults include table tilting failure from hydraulic leaks and irregular depth from worn bearings. Address issues promptly to protect expensive stone materials.
