Choosing Supplies
Pick electrodes, wires, fluxes, and gases that match the job drawings. Think about the metal type, strength needs, and where the weld will be used.
Storage
Keep materials in a cool, dry room. Place electrodes on shelves, not on the floor. Mark every batch with its type and date.
Drying Electrodes
Heat acid electrodes to 150-200C for one to two hours. Heat low-hydrogen types to 350-400C for one to two hours. Store heated rods in warm holding bins at 100-150C.
Tool Checks
Pick the right power unit for the weld type. Check cables and ground links before each shift. Clean and inspect grinders and cutters. Write down all service work.
