Regular Inspections for Electric Heaters

Periodic inspection is the foundation of electric heater maintenance. For visual and external inspection, check the heater outer casing for damage, deformation, or corrosion. Inspect whether the wiring terminals are loose, show signs of overheating or discoloration, or have oxidation. For internal component inspection of disassemblable heaters, regularly check the heating elements such as resistance wires and heating tubes for breaks, fractures, short circuits, or carbon buildup. Inspect insulation materials for aging or damage to ensure good insulation performance.

Cleaning Procedures

For external cleaning, wipe the outer casing with a clean damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. It is critical to avoid letting the damp cloth come into contact with electrical parts to prevent short circuits. For internal cleaning of heaters with ventilation openings or heat dissipation holes, regularly clean out accumulated dust and debris to ensure proper ventilation and heat dissipation. Blocked ventilation is one of the leading causes of heater efficiency loss and overheating.

Temperature Control Checks

Periodically check the thermostat accuracy and recalibrate promptly if deviations are found. Ensure the thermostat can properly control the heating temperature, preventing it from going too high or too low. Check whether the temperature sensor is functioning normally and verify that it maintains good contact with the heating element. A disconnected or poorly positioned sensor can lead to temperature runaway and equipment damage.

Electrical Performance Testing

Regularly measure the resistance value of the heating element and compare it with the nominal or rated value to determine whether it is normal. Use a megohmmeter to test the heater insulation resistance and ensure the insulation performance meets safety requirements. For industrial large-scale equipment, perform full visual and internal inspection monthly, thermostat calibration every 6 months, and insulation resistance test and electrical performance testing annually.

Safety Protection and Operating Environment

Check whether the overload protector operates correctly and verify that the set value is appropriate. Test the sensitivity of the leakage protection device and ensure it can quickly cut off power in the event of a leakage. Ensure the electric heater is installed in a well-ventilated location and avoid obstructions around the unit that could affect heat dissipation. In humid or dusty environments, take appropriate protective measures such as installing protective covers or using desiccants. Do not exceed the heater rated power and operating temperature range, and after prolonged use, allow the electric heater to cool down naturally before cutting off the power completely.
