Electric Press Operating Procedures: A Complete Safety Guide
Comprehensive guide to electric press operating procedures including pre-operation checks, operational safety rules, and post-operation maintenance steps based on Chinese industrial safety standards.
## Introduction
Electric presses are essential equipment in modern industrial manufacturing, using electric motors to drive transmission mechanisms that convert rotational motion into linear pressing force. Proper operation is critical for both product quality and operator safety.
## Pre-Operation Checklist
Before starting the electric press, operators must complete the following preparations:/n/n1. **Operator Qualification**: Only trained and skilled operators should handle the equipment. The operator must be familiar with the machine's structure, performance, and safety operation methods.
2. **Dry Run Test**: Before use, perform an empty run test (up and down) once. Only proceed with actual operation if no abnormalities are detected.
3. **Lubrication Check**: Verify that all lubrication points are properly serviced. Check the oil cups and fill them with lubricant as specified in the machine's lubrication chart.
4. **Safety Inspection**: Inspect all safety devices, protective guards, and warning systems to ensure they are functioning correctly.
## During Operation
### Workpiece Placement
- **Flat and Straight**: Workpieces must be placed flat and straight on the press bed. Never allow any tilting or skewing of the part.
- **Proper Height**: The height of the workpiece must be appropriate — neither too low nor too high. Incorrect height can cause the lead screw to come off or cause mechanical damage.
### Safety Rules During Operation
- **Hand Safety**: Never place hands under the ram or die during operation. Keep all body parts away from moving components.
- **Real-Time Monitoring**: Continuously monitor all operating parameters including pressure, temperature, flow rate, and current. Ensure all values remain within the specified range.
- **Tool Usage**: Use hooks or brushes (never bare hands) to remove stamped parts or waste material from the work area.
- **Single Piece**: Do not attempt to press two workpieces simultaneously.
### Abnormal Condition Response
If any of the following abnormal conditions are detected, stop the machine immediately and cut off power:/n- Unusual noise or impact sounds
- Abnormal slider movement
- Consecutive stamping (double-hitting)
- Burrs appearing on finished products
- Overheating of bearings or guide rails
## Post-Operation Procedures
1. **Disengage Clutch**: Separate the clutch mechanism.
2. **Power Off**: Turn off the main power supply.
3. **Clean Up**: Remove all debris, scrap material, and oil residue from the work table and surrounding area.
4. **Lubricate**: Wipe down the press and dies with clean cloth. Apply anti-rust oil to bare metal surfaces of both the press and dies.
5. **Record Keeping**: Document any issues encountered during operation for shift handover.
## Key Safety Reminders
- The flywheel must come to a complete stop before any adjustment or maintenance work begins.
- Never bypass or short-circuit any interlock safety circuits.
- Keep the electrical cabinet door closed during operation.
- Establish regular maintenance schedules and keep detailed maintenance logs.
