How to Correctly Operate a Fish Heading Machine
Properly operating a fish heading machine ensures both safety and efficiency in fish processing. Below is a detailed guide covering preparation, operation steps, and essential maintenance practices.
1. Preparation Stage
- Ensure the fish heading machine is correctly installed and properly grounded to prevent electrical leakage.
- Inspect all machine components for integrity, including blades, springs, and conveyor belts.
- Clean the machine thoroughly to ensure no residue remains from previous use.
2. Starting the Machine
- Run the machine empty for a short period and observe whether it operates normally. If any abnormal noise is detected, stop and check whether screws are loose or foreign objects are inside.
- After confirming everything is in order, turn on the power switch.
3. Placing the Fish
- Adjust the width of the fish inlet according to the size and species of the fish.
- Stun the fish (if the machine is not equipped with a stunning device) to reduce struggling and suffering.
- Place the fish head-first into the inlet, ensuring the fish body rests steadily on the conveyor belt.
4. Processing
- Once the fish enters the machine, it will automatically complete heading, scaling, gutting, and other processing steps.
- Monitor the machine's operation to ensure the fish is being processed correctly.
5. Collecting Finished Products
- Processed fish will exit from the machine outlet. Collect them promptly and place them in clean containers.
- Waste such as fish heads, scales, and intestines will collect in the bottom tray. Clean it regularly.
Safety Precautions
- Never reach into the operating parts of the machine during operation.
- The descaling device at the fish inlet operates at high speed — exercise extra caution.
- Operators must wear gloves and safety goggles to prevent blade injuries.
- Operators should receive specialized training before operating the machine.
Maintenance and Care
- After each day's work, rinse the machine thoroughly to prevent bacterial growth from residue.
- Regularly apply lubricating oil to bearings and other moving parts.
- Periodically inspect blades, springs, and other wear parts, and replace them promptly.
- Store the machine in a dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
