Step-by-step industrial dryer installation procedures, startup and shutdown sequences, technical parameter control, and maintenance of critical mechanical components.

Pre-Installation Preparation

Before installing an industrial dryer, conduct foundation inspection. Check the concrete pouring quality and dimensional position deviations. The foundation surface must be clean, free of oil stains, dust, and debris, with no exposed rebar, cracks, or missing corners. Dimensional deviations for outline dimensions and coordinate positions should have axial errors of less than 20 millimeters. Slope error should be less than 20 millimeters across the full length.

Conduct equipment acceptance: check the equipment packing list against delivered parts, components, standard parts, and accompanying documents. Inspect for any mis-shipped or missing items, deformation, or damage, and keep records. Remove protective coatings from packaging, clean dust, oil stains, and rust. Inspect and repair any damage or deformation that occurred during transport and handling.

Startup Sequence

After completing all installation work, the startup must follow this sequence: first connect the bearing cooling water system, then ignite the furnace, start the dryer motor, start the dry material conveying equipment and dust collection equipment, and finally start the feeding equipment. Each step must be confirmed as normal before proceeding to the next step.

During operation, personnel must perform the following inspections: check all exposed fixing bolts for looseness; verify that main bearings, reducers, and motor lubrication points are normal and bearings are not overheating; confirm that dryer operation is smooth and stable without abnormal vibration; check that all seals are tight without material leakage, oil leakage, or water leakage; verify main bearing and reducer cooling water is normal; check reducer gear meshing sound and motor current values and fluctuation conditions.

Shutdown Procedure

When the dryer needs to be shut down, preparation should begin 30 minutes before shutdown: stop feeding material to the furnace and dampen the fire, stop the feeding equipment, then shut down the dryer motor, and finally stop conveying equipment and dust collection equipment.

After shutdown, rotate the drum once every 10 to 15 minutes until it cools completely to prevent drum bending. If shutdown is due to an accident, in addition to immediately dampening the fire, rotate the drum as described above until it cools down. After complete shutdown, report the shutdown time to the control room.

Technical Process Parameter Control

Key parameters to control include: material moisture content within specified range; furnace outlet temperature below operational limits; and equipment throughput at or above rated capacity. Operators must perform precision work, strictly controlling dryer material moisture content to prevent over-drying or under-drying. Strictly implement the three major equipment regulations to ensure normal equipment operation.

Regularly monitor dryer inlet temperature and gas combustion conditions, making adjustments based on observations. When material moisture content is low and gas supply is stopped, report the gas stoppage time to the control room.

Mechanical Component Maintenance

Regularly inspect the lifting plates inside the drum. If damaged or detached, promptly report to the shift leader, keep records, and schedule repairs at an appropriate time. Periodically check induced draft fan ducting for blockages and clean thoroughly.

The support rollers and drive gears require lubrication three times per shift. If abnormal sounds are detected, immediately report to the shift leader and stop the machine promptly to prevent major losses. The reducer should be inspected once per shift; if oil is found to be insufficient, replenish lubricating grease promptly.

Continuously observe whether the dryer and cooler thrust rollers are operating normally, whether the drum has shifted, and whether vibration hammer weld joints are secure. Closely monitor the gearbox and drive components for vibration. Check whether motor-to-reducer coupling elastic pads and bolts are intact, and report any issues discovered for repair.

Safety During Maintenance

When entering the dryer interior for maintenance, first confirm the furnace is completely extinguished, the interior temperature has dropped to a suitable level, and flue gas has been fully discharged. Open the inlet and outlet doors to maintain air circulation inside the dryer before entering. Personnel must not enter the equipment during normal operation. If entry is necessary, report to the control room to stop the machine and assign a dedicated person for supervision.
