Pre-Operation Checks
Before starting the pasta dryer, verify that all components are in working condition. Check the heat source system (heat pump, gas, or electric), ventilation fans, conveyor mechanisms, and control systems. Ensure the drying chamber is clean and free from residual product from previous batches.
Verify that temperature sensors, humidity probes, and airflow meters are calibrated and reading accurately. Check that all access doors and panels are properly sealed to maintain controlled drying conditions.
Startup and Parameter Setting
Set drying parameters according to the specific pasta product being processed. Key parameters include temperature profile across drying zones, relative humidity targets, conveyor speed, and airflow rates. Start the ventilation system and heat source, allowing the drying chamber to reach stable operating conditions before introducing product.
Begin feeding product only after confirming normal operation with no abnormal sounds or conditions. Monitor the initial product through the first zone to verify proper drying progression.
Quality Monitoring During Operation
Continuously monitor drying parameters through the control system interface. Check product quality at regular intervals - examine noodle surface condition, moisture content, and structural integrity. Adjust temperature and humidity settings as needed based on product observations.
Common quality issues and their causes: brittle noodles indicate excessive drying temperature or too-rapid moisture removal; damp or sticky noodles suggest insufficient drying or inadequate airflow; sour odor indicates bacterial growth from insufficient drying or poor sanitation.
Daily Maintenance Procedures
After each production day, clean the drying chamber thoroughly. Remove product debris from conveyor belts and chamber floors. Clean or replace air filters. Check conveyor belt tension and tracking. Inspect heating elements or heat exchanger surfaces for fouling.
Lubricate all bearings and drive components according to manufacturer specifications. Document all maintenance activities and any parameter adjustments made during production.
Safety Precautions
Allow equipment to cool before performing maintenance. Follow lockout/tagout procedures. Use appropriate PPE when handling cleaning chemicals. Never bypass safety interlocks on access doors. Maintain clear emergency access routes around the equipment.
