The pasta extruder (面食挤出机/面条机) is equipment that forms flour into noodles with necessary toughness and moisture through relative rotation of rollers and extrusion. To ensure the machine delivers optimal performance and longevity, proper maintenance and care are essential.

Daily Maintenance Tasks

  • Post-use cleaning: After each use, promptly clean accumulated flour and dough residues. Use a soft brush or cloth to remove debris from the rollers and cutting blades. Never use sharp tools to scrape the rollers or blades, as this causes permanent damage.
  • Lubrication: Each lubrication point should receive lubricating oil once per shift. Use gear oil or No. 20 machine oil. Apply lubricant sparingly — excess grease attracts flour and creates abrasive paste.
  • Surface cleaning: Wipe down the machine exterior with a damp cloth. Keep the work area clean and free from flour accumulation that could pose a fire hazard or contaminate the product.

Weekly Maintenance

  • Belt inspection: Regulary check the tension and wear condition of the V-belts. Properly tensioned belts should deflect approximately 6–8mm under moderate finger pressure. Replace belts that show cracks, fraying, or glazing.
  • Bearing check: Listen for unusual noises from bearing housings during operation. Check for excessive heat or vibration that may indicate bearing wear or insufficient lubrication.
  • Electrical inspection: Check all electrical connections for security. Look for signs of overheating at terminals, such as discoloration or melting of wire insulation.

Monthly Maintenance

  • Gearbox service: Check the gearbox oil level and condition. The oil should be clear and free from metal particles. Top up or replace the oil according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Blade sharpness: Inspect the cutting blades for sharpness and damage. Dull blades produce ragged-edged noodles and increase motor load. Sharpen or replace blades as needed.
  • Alignment check: Check the alignment of rollers and cutting blades. Misalignment causes uneven noodle thickness and accelerates wear on blades and rollers.

Annual Maintenance

  • Complete lubrication service: Replace the grease inside the bearings once per year using the grease specified for this machine.
  • Comprehensive inspection: Perform a complete dismantling and inspection of the transmission system, including gears, chains, and sprockets. Replace any worn components before they fail.
  • Calibration: Verify that all measuring and control devices (temperature, speed, thickness gauges) are within calibration tolerances.

Long-Term Storage Preparation

  • Thoroughly clean the entire machine, removing all flour, dough, and residue from every crevice.
  • Apply an appropriate amount of edible oil to the surfaces of both rollers and the noodle cutting blades to prevent rust formation during storage.
  • Cover the machine with a breathable cover to prevent dust accumulation while allowing air circulation to prevent condensation.
  • If storing for more than 3 months, rotate the rollers by hand every 30 days to prevent flat spots from developing on the roller surfaces.
