Press Machine Safety Operating Procedures and Maintenance Guide

This procedure applies to press machines of all models and specifications. Operators must receive necessary training and be familiar with the structure, performance, and safe operation methods of the machine.

I. Pre-Operation Preparation

  1. Check all safety protection devices and ensure emergency stop switches are functional and accessible.
  2. Verify that the lubrication system is working properly. Add lubricating oil according to the lubrication chart requirements.
  3. Check the power supply system and mechanical system for proper operation.
  4. Ensure the work area is clean and free of obstacles, with all unrelated items removed from the press table and surrounding area.
  5. Inspect die installation for secure mounting, and check cutting edges for cracks, wear, or damage.
  6. Always start the motor only after confirming the clutch is disengaged.
  7. Test the brake, clutch, and control mechanisms for proper and accurate operation.

II. Safe Operation Procedures

  1. Operators must wear proper personal protective equipment including safety glasses, ear protection, and safety shoes.
  2. Never bypass or disable safety guards, light curtains, or interlock switches during operation.
  3. Keep hands away from the die area at all times. Use feeding tools, not bare hands, to load and unload workpieces.
  4. Monitor machine operating parameters including pressure, temperature, and motor current to ensure they stay within rated limits.
  5. Never process two sheets of material simultaneously in a single stroke.
  6. When deep drawing operations are being performed, ensure proper application of drawing lubricant.
  7. Clear scrap and finished parts regularly using hooks, brushes, or air blasts. Never use bare hands.
  8. If abnormal sounds, vibration, or double-striking occurs, stop the machine immediately, disconnect power, and investigate.

III. Post-Operation Procedures

  1. Disengage the clutch and bring the slide to its lowest position.
  2. Turn off the main power switch and disconnect the power supply.
  3. Clean the worktable, remove all scrap and debris.
  4. Wipe down the press and dies, removing all oil and dirt.
  5. Apply anti-rust oil to unpainted metal surfaces and dies.
  6. Record any abnormalities observed during operation in the equipment logbook.

IV. Emergency Response

  1. In case of emergency, immediately press the emergency stop button.
  2. Disconnect main power and isolate the machine.
  3. Do not restart the machine until the cause of the emergency has been identified and resolved.
  4. Report all incidents and near-misses to the safety supervisor.

V. Maintenance and Care

Equipment operators must maintain the integrity of the equipment, accessories, instruments, safety protection devices, and all control handles. Follow the stamping workshop safety operating procedures, ensure certified operation, and clean and lubricate equipment on schedule.
