Shelling Machine Maintenance and Blade Care Guide
Blade Maintenance Schedule
After extended use, blade wear is normal and expected. Users should regularly inspect blades for sharpness and wear patterns. When shells are not breaking properly or the shelling rate decreases, it is time to sharpen or replace the blades. Maintaining properly sharpened blades is essential for achieving the rated 95 percent shelling rate and preventing kernel damage.
Lubrication Requirements
Regular lubrication is critical for long-term machine performance. Motor lubricating oil should be added to bearings with lubrication holes and chain tensioning mechanisms. The recommended schedule is to add lubricant every two weeks to all lubrication points. Pay special attention to the motor gearbox where oil level must be maintained above the oil indicator mark. Motor lubricating oil should be added every two to three months for optimal performance.
Daily Inspection Procedures
Before each production run, check all fastening bolts and ensure they are tight. Inspect conveyor belts for proper tension and alignment. Verify that the vibrating screen and fan assembly are clean and functioning correctly. Listen for any unusual sounds during the first few minutes of operation.
Periodic Maintenance Checklist
- Every two weeks: Add lubricant to all bearings and chain mechanisms
- Monthly: Inspect blades, check belt tension, clean fan and screen assemblies
- Every two to three months: Add motor gearbox lubricant, check electrical connections
- Every six months: Comprehensive inspection including bearing replacement if needed
- Annually: Professional maintenance service for thorough equipment evaluation
