Pre-Operation Steps
Before using sterilization equipment, check that all safety devices work correctly. Verify water level meets requirements using distilled water to cut down on scale. Check the chamber is clean and free from debris. Ensure stable power and proper grounding. Verify gauges and sensors are in calibration. Check door seals are intact.
Loading and Cycle Choice
Place items with space between them for proper steam flow. Do not overload the chamber. For wrapped items, ensure wrapping lets steam through. For containers, position vents to let steam in. Place liquid containers safely to avoid spills. Pick the right cycle based on what you are processing. Set the correct temperature and exposure time.
During Operation
Watch the cycle through the display. Make sure temperature stays at the set point during exposure. Watch for odd sounds, pressure shifts, or steam leaks. Do not try to open the door during operation as safety locks prevent this. Use emergency stop if needed for odd conditions.
After Completion
Check that chamber pressure is back to normal before opening. Open the door slowly while standing to the side. Let hot items cool before touching. Use heat-resistant gloves when removing items. Check sterilization indicators on each package. Store sterilized items in a clean, dry place away from contamination.
