Regular Care Schedule
Clean the chamber and outer surfaces daily. Check the door gasket for wear and clean it. Inspect the drain screen and clean as needed. Verify logging functions work if present. Weekly, check and clean water sensors to prevent scale. Inspect valves and pipes for leaks or rust. Test the safety valve at correct pressure. Monthly, run air removal tests and clean or change filters.
Validation Testing
Validate performance using biological indicators with bacterial spores. Place indicators in the hardest spots within loads. After processing, incubate indicators and check for no growth. Use chemical indicators on each package for quick visual checks. Run temperature studies with multiple probes throughout the chamber. Verify the coldest spot reaches and holds the needed temperature for the full exposure time.
Quality Control
Keep detailed records of each cycle including date, operator, load contents, and results. Review records after each cycle to confirm all values were met. Set up a system for checking and releasing loads. Implement a preventive care program with scheduled checks and part changes. Keep a care log of all service work and parts changed.
Problem Solving
If failures occur, check for loading issues blocking steam flow, poor air removal, or wet steam. Check for gasket leaks that let air in during cycles. Verify temperature and pressure accuracy. If the unit fails to reach temperature, check heating elements and sensors.
