Stick Electrodes
Stick electrodes are the most common filler. 6010 rods give deep penetration for pipe work. 6013 rods offer a smooth arc for sheet metal. 7018 rods are low-hydrogen and high strength for structures and pressure vessels.
MIG and TIG Wires
MIG wire feeds automatically for fast production. TIG wire is hand-fed for precise work. Solid wire needs external shielding gas. Flux-cored wire can be self-shielded or gas-shielded and deposits metal faster on thick plate.
Fluxes
Flux shields the molten pool from air and stops oxidation. It is found as coating on stick rods, inside flux-cored wire, or as loose granules for submerged arc welding.
Filler Metals
ER70S-6 is common for mild steel. 308L is used for stainless steel. 309L joins stainless to carbon steel. Aluminum, brass, and bronze fillers are available for special jobs.
Matching Materials
Always match the filler to the base metal and welding process. Wrong fillers cause weak joints or contamination. Look for ISO certified products from trusted makers.
