working principle:

During electrolysis, cations in the electrolyte migrate to the cathode, and electrons are obtained at the anode to be reduced. Anions run to the anode and lose electrons to be oxidized. The two electrodes connected to the copper sulfate solution are supplied with direct current. At this time, it will be found that copper and hydrogen are precipitated on the plate connected to the cathode of the power supply. In the case of a copper anode, copper dissolution and oxygen evolution occur simultaneously.

The overall reaction is as follows:

     Anode: 4OH- +4e→2H20+O2↑

     Cathode: Cu2+ +2e→Cu

     2SO42- +2H2O-4e→2H2SO4+O2↑
